Mark says that when he started designing fabric he “didn’t know what the hell” he was doing. He and Jeff just winged it and hoped for the best. He now wants to help other new designers develop their craft and put out fabrics in a style that matches his vision for the line.
Or has it already under a different name? I’m thinking of the trend toward loft living, which comes without rooms. (Only the bathrooms are walled in.) Open layouts routinely show kitchens and beds in the same space. Lofts, often converted warehouses at inner-city locations, are so popular today that the U.S. Department of Justice reports less crime in urban areas than in the suburbs.
Many Americans are said to be putting back a little more in savings than they did a year or two ago, when savings rates were actually in negative numbers. This ought to be seen as a good thing, since making purchases from money on hand means being more thoughtful about those purchases and not charging them on credit cards. Ironically, the media and the government want us to continue the ways of consumerism and buying on credit. But that just can’t continue for a number of reasons I won’t detail here.
We ordered an onion mushroom pizza to share. The centerpiece on the table, a black wrought iron twist ,held plate settings for the table, the waitress flipped it over to the small end to hold an appetizer of fire roasted wings (.00) and then it was flipped to the wider end to hold the pizza (.00/Large size) after she removed the plates , of course.
I was intrigued with the composting toilets on Longs Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, as a young adult. They are located just below the Keyhole, at the top of the Boulder Field, the last chance to “de-fuel” comfortably before the push to the top. The waste was dried with solar panels “cooking” the deposits, which were then packed down the mountain by pack animals at the end of the season. What a great way to protect that fragile environment. And what a pleasant way to “de-fuel”.
There are certainly all sorts of styles of kitchen cupboards to satisfy every taste, in every colour as well as in natural woods. Oak, maple, beech, pine. Painted, varnished or in their authentic state. The list goes on. Gleaming contemporary kitchens or time-honoured wooden units. The selection is yours to make. Each can offer your kitchen an alternate look, from the country, homely kitchen to the beautiful modern day show cuisine at home room.
R.: Fresh Home debuted in 2009 (in fact, we were a Folio top 15 magazine launch) when other shelter publications were shutting down. We decided to address the increasing trend of young homeowners on a budget-a demographic that has not previously been reached by a shelter magazine with dollar-savvy ideas and projects they can execute on their own. We are always encouraging our readers to celebrate their unique and personal style by breaking the rules, getting creative and doing it their way.
If you have children, you can put some slip covers into your decorating scheme. Slip covers allow you to change the look of a room, but are easily washable. Think about using a new pattern every season.
